Friends of the Pawtuxet accepts donations to pay for our newsletter and tree planting? Checks made out to "Friends of the Pawtuxet" should be mailed to 37 Ferncrest Avenue, Cranston, RI 02905.
The Farmers market is open Saturdays, 9 AM to12 PM, RAIN, SNOW or SHINE though November 19th. For dates and events see the Friends of the Pawtuxet Calendar of Events.
The farmers market is located in the Rhodes on the Pawtucket parking lot, just North of the village center, off of Broad Street in Cranston. Directions.

FARM TOOLS NEEDED
Westbay Farm, a Warwick Farm that grows vegetables for a food pantry run by Westbay Community Action Program, needs tools. The farm needs shovels, hoes, lawn mowers, steel fence posts, chicken wire, steel rakes, hose, lime and diatomaceous earth, This is your chance to clean your garage. To donate something, contact Farm Manager Steve Stycos at 461-2618 or steven@stycos.com.
The farm also need three and four inch plastic pots. They can be dropped on the porch at 37 Ferncrest Avenue, Cranston.
GARDEN CLUB ROSE BUSH PRE-SALE
For the next three months the Edgewood Garden Club will be pre-selling sustainable Roses, winter hardy varieties that remain healthy and attractive without the use of chemical pesticides. Among the different varieties offered there are, David Austins, Patent Floribundas, Patent Landscape and Climbers. Some of the Roses are defined in Mike and Angelina Chute's book, Roses for New England and can be found in the Chet Clayton Sustainable Rose Garden at the University of Rhode Island Botanical Garden as of April 2010. The proceeds from this sale will be used in community projects. RETURN & REUSE AT THE FARMERS MARKET

BERRY BOXES: We collect quart, pint, and half pint boxes at the market, attach a market sticker, and give them to farmers to reuse. In three years, we have reused 11,600 boxes. Please wash boxes and do not return other sizes.

HONEY JARS & CARTONS: Farmers Chang Xiong and Michelle Kozloski will reuse clean egg cartons. Bernie Bieder will reuse honey jars.

BOOKS & CDS: Our Big Green Book Sales raise money for the market’s environmental programs. Leftover books go to local libraries. Books & CDs can be left on porches at 25 Berwick Lane, 10 & 18 Williams Avenue and 37 Ferncrest Avenue. Please no damaged books or text books.

DAMAGED CDS: We recycle damaged CDs and cases this year. Use the box at the recycling table.

PLASTIC PLANT POTS: October 16, the Edgewood Garden Club collects plastic pots (especially 3 inch and 4 inch), six packs, and trays for farmers to reuse.

POPSICLE STICKS: Farmers use popsicle sticks to mark trays of plant seedlings. Bring your collection to the recycling table.

SHOPPING BAGS: Farmers no longer receive free plastic bags from RI DEM. Please bring bags for your groceries. Market bags are also available for sale.
- NEW SHOPPING BAGS FOR SALE. A statewide cooperative effort of farmers markets is working to eliminate plastic bags. We will sell "I Got Fresh in RI" cotton tote bags for $5. Thanks to our market and others, these bags are made in New Hampshire of 100 percent recycled cotton. We also have Pawtuxet Village Farmers Market shopping bags for $10. Both bags are available at the recycling table.
